Are you new to service in AA or the Intergroup? Consider serving as an Intergroup Representative. The Intergroup Rep is the most important member of Intergroup. Every AA group deserves to be represented in their local Intergroup.
Roanoke Valley Intergroup (RVI) is an A.A. service entity that involves partnership among groups in our community — just as A.A. groups themselves are partnerships of individuals. It was established to carry out certain functions common to all the groups — functions which are best handled by a centralized office — and it is maintained, supervised, and supported by these groups in their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers. We do this by:
- Coordinating with District 19 committee members to maintain relations with the public and professional communities in the alcoholism field
- Being a centralized outlet for groups and members to exchange information and announcements
- Funding and maintaining the website aaroanoke.org and Roanoke Valley Intergroup Facebook page that provides local meeting schedules and other useful local information
- Maintaining a local office in which volunteers make literature and tokens available for sale to local groups and members
- Providing a volunteer 24-hour telephone hotline for those in need
- Coordinating AA sponsored events such as picnics and workshops
Our guiding principles are the “12 Steps & Traditions”. RVI is non-profit and funded by contributions from local AA groups and members.
